Phase 1: Inpatient Treatment
Stabilize. Rebuild. Prepare for What Comes Next
Phase 1 is where recovery begins. At HAWC, clients receive structured medical care, evidence-based therapy, and supportive guidance to help stabilize the mind and body. Our approach blends clinical expertise with compassion and lived experience — setting the foundation for long-term success.
What to Expect in Phase 1

Comprehensive Intake & Medical Care
Every client begins with a full pre-assessment, medical physical, and biopsychosocial evaluation. You’ll receive weekly doctor visits and coordinated medical support throughout your stay.

Therapy & Supportive Roles
Clients participate in individual and group therapy led by clinicians. Supportive staff — many in recovery themselves — offer additional encouragement, guidance, and accountability.

Evidence-Based Approach
We combine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Contingency Management to address substance use patterns, motivation, and long-term behavioral change.

Recreational & Community Activities
Engagement is a key part of early recovery. Clients enjoy access to fitness resources, gaming systems, group outings, walks, and other activities that build connection and reduce AMA risk.
This is Our promise
Recovery doesn’t happen in 30 days — it happens with consistency, support, and accountability. HAWC’s three-phase model gives you the time, structure, and stability you need to achieve real, lasting change.
Transition to Phase 2
Before completing Phase 1, every client works closely with staff to prepare for employment. This ensures a smooth transition into Phase 2 recovery housing with a job already secured.
