Our Long-Term, Three-Phase Recovery Program
A complete path to stability, employment, and independent living.
At Huntington Addiction Wellness Center, treatment is more than a 30-day program — it’s a structured, supportive journey designed to help you rebuild your life with confidence. Our three-phase model provides medical care, therapy, community support, job placement, and long-term housing in one continuous path.
Whether you’re entering treatment from active use, a higher level of care, or home-planning from prison or parole, our program is built to meet you where you are and guide you toward lasting recovery.
Why Our Model Works

A Complete Continuum of Care
Most programs treat one stage of recovery. HAWC is one of the only organizations in West Virginia offering inpatient treatment, recovery housing, and graduate housing all within one seamless system.

Employment Before You Transition
Every person who completes Phase 1 leaves with ajob already secured — dramatically reducing early recovery stress and relapse risk.

Principle-Driven, Compassionate Support
Our program is guided by values, not convenience. Clients receive structured accountability, honest communication, and unwavering support.

Stability That Builds Independence
Our graduate housing program allows clients to save money, continue outpatient therapy, and transition into long-term independence with a strong foundation.
How Our Program Works
Inpatient Treatment
Stabilize, rebuild, and reset the foundation.
During Phase 1, clients receive comprehensive clinical and medical support designed to stabilize both mind and body.
Key Components:
- Pre-assessment screening
- Medical physical + biopsychosocial evaluation
- Weekly doctor visits
- Clinical therapy (individual & group)
- Supportive roles filled by people in recovery
- CBT + Contingency Management
- Structured daily schedules
- Vocational preparation and GED support
- Recreational activities (gym, gaming, outings, walks)
Clients remain in Phase 1 long enough to build stability, emotional regulation, and confidence.
Recovery Housing & Job Placement
Transition into life with support, structure, and meaningful employment.
Before completing Phase 1, every client secures active employment with our team’s assistance. This ensures a smoother transition into Phase 2.
Phase 2 Includes:
- Job placement and employment readiness
- Structured sober living environment
- Continued therapy and support
- Budgeting and financial coaching
- Accountability and community support
- Safe housing near local resources
Clients learn to balance work, recovery, personal responsibilities, and community support — all while building confidence in a stable environment.
Graduate Housing + Outpatient Care
Build savings, strengthen independence, and stay connected to support.
Phase 3 offers low-cost housing with ongoing accountability for clients ready to move toward long-term independence.
Phase 3 Includes:
- Affordable, supportive housing
- Outpatient clinical therapy
- Random drug testing
- Accountability meetings
