About Huntington Addiction Wellness Center
Principle-Driven Care. Long-Term Recovery. A Program Built to Do What’s Right
Huntington Addiction Wellness Center (HAWC) was created by individuals who experienced treatment firsthand and believed recovery could be done better. Founded on compassion, structure, and a commitment to community, HAWC offers one of the most comprehensive recovery pathways in West Virginia — guiding clients from inpatient treatment all the way to long-term independent living.
Our Story
HAWC began in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before opening as a treatment program, our team housed 31 of Huntington’s unhoused population to help protect the community. As the organization transitioned into a recovery center,28 of the 31 individuals chose to stay, following rules, attending classes, and engaging in treatment.
This experience — combined with decades of lived experience and professional insight — shaped HAWC’s philosophy:
People thrive when they’re supported, challenged, respected, and given real opportunities.
From those early days came the foundation of what HAWC is today: a principled, collaborative, and client-centered treatment center built on doing the right thing, even when it’s difficult.
